Autoglass opens ADAS Calibration Centre in Cardiff

Autoglass, the UK's leading vehicle glass repair and replacement company, has opened a new centre in Cardiff to provide local drivers with specialist calibration services for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

ADAS calibration is fast becoming an essential requirement for many motorists because the systems support many of the cameras and sensors used for the latest important safety features such as emergency breaking and lane departure warnings. The majority of vehicle manufacturers state that the systems need to be calibrated following a windscreen replacement to make sure they can still accurately detect potential hazards and warn drivers, or take corrective action to avoid a potential collision.

The new Cardiff centre is located on the Fairfield Industrial Estate, Gwaelod-y-Garth, which has been selected due to its close proximity to Junction 32 of the M4 and the A470 - making it conveniently accessible to motorists across South Wales and the Valleys. Fully trained specialist technicians will be based at the site so that customers across the area who need their calibration done at a static service centre will now have much less distance to travel.

Since launching the first ADAS calibration solution in the UK in 2015, Autoglass has seen a significant increase in demand for calibration services across the area, and has a growing network of static calibration centres in addition to its dynamic calibration service, provided at customers' homes and offices.

Wayne Parfett, Operations Manager, Autoglass says: We're very proud to be bringing this important new service to customers in and around the Welsh capital. With most new cars now having several safety features that rely on ADAS to work properly we've been working hard to raise awareness of the need for calibration, and also to meet the growing demand. We already have 250 ADAS trained technicians across the UK and plan to have a total of 45 specialist calibration centres by the end of the year.
