Windscreen Technician for Autoglass from Birmingham to represent the UK at global competition

Belron®, the parent company of Autoglass®, launches search for the world's best vehicle glass repair and replacement technicians 

Autoglass® technician, David Lyth from Birmingham, has won the UK heat of the Best of Belron® competition. The parent company of Autoglass®, Belron® holds the global competition every other year to celebrate the skills of their most valued resource, their technicians. 

This year's UK qualifier event was hosted at the heart of the company within the central glass distribution centre in Leicestershire and saw 11 of the nation's finest technicians for Autoglass® go head-to-head in a series of assessed challenges. David Lyth demonstrated high standards of workmanship and excellent customer service skills across the windscreen repair, remove, refit and bodyglass replacement challenges, claiming the tittle of the UK's top technician in the eighth biennial contest. 

David hopes to follow in the footsteps of his colleague, Steve Marelli, who in 2012 triumphed against technicians from 29 other countries to become the first person from the UK to win the accolade of ˜Best of Belron®'.

Next May, David will put his skills to the test at the competition finale in Lisbon when 32 technicians from across the world will compete to win the coveted title. 

Commenting on his success, David Lyth said: I've got a lot of passion and dedication when it comes to my job and I'm really proud to work for a business like Autoglass® who take the time to acknowledge and reward our passion for the business and expertise. I'm looking forward to representing the UK at the global competition in Lisbon and bringing back the title to the UK once more.

The Best of Belron® competition is open to Autoglass® and Belron® technicians across 32 markets. Each technician undergoes a series of challenges and is marked on customer service, quality, safety, working methods, car care and also speed of completing each job.
