Autoglass announces launch of new eye-wear range

Autoglass eye-wear

Autoglass« is set to launch a new range of stylish and high-quality eye-wear for driving using glass from old windscreens.

Thanks to famous spectacle wearers, glasses have never been so popular, whether people have problems with their eyesight or not.

Autoglass« is hoping to continue this trend by launching its new, limited collection of driving glasses, called Autoglasses«, which will be available in four colours: Traffic Light Red, Double Yellow Line, Tarmac Black and Lane White.

In 2013, Autoglass« recycled around 11,500 tonnes of glass from windscreens and body glass. Every windscreen that is now replaced on high performance cars such as Ferraris, Porsches and Jaguars will now be repurposed and used to create the custom range, which will not require a prescription.

Alex Smith, Project Manager at Autoglass« and part-time inventor, initially came up with the idea:

Having listened to feedback from our customers, I saw an opportunity to give the glass that we would ordinarily recycle a second lease of life. As a spectacle wearer myself, the idea was literally in front of my eyes. After getting the go-ahead, our Technical team has developed the concept and I'm delighted with the end result. In fact, I've got the first pair off the production line!

Matthew Mycock, Managing Director at Autoglass«, said:

Customers are always joking that they need our help to repair and replace the other important pieces of glass in their lives, such as phone screens and glasses so we're delighted to launch our new sustainable, and fashionable, anti-glare eye-wear range. We are selecting the glass from the performance cars that we service throughout the year to create these very special specs and feel that this innovative approach is an exciting new differentiator.

We are already anticipating particularly strong demand for a limited edition red and yellow pair, which will marry the Autoglass« brand colours. We feel that our new product range will really help our customers to (quite literally) see Autoglass« differently.
