Autoglass unveiled as official Comic Relief call centre

Autoglass, the UK’s largest vehicle glass repair and replacement specialist today announced it has been appointed as one of the official call centres for this year’s Comic Relief Red Nose Day.

On Friday 18th March Red Nose Day is hosting a celebrity filled night of TV on BBC One and will be encouraging viewers to call the special donation lines.

The Autoglass call centre, based at the company’s head quarters in Bedford, will be the official call centre for the East Anglia region and around 150 staff from across the business, including senior management, technicians and customer service staff, will be standing by to take an anticipated 10,000 donation calls.

The Autoglass team will be building up to the big event throughout the day with a variety of pirate themed celebrations and fund-raising activities. The phone lines will go live at 6.30pm and the team will continue to take donations until 2am on Saturday 19th March.

“We are very excited to be playing such an important role in the Comic Relief Red Nose Day, our team are passionate about the event and have donated their spare time to Comic Relief and the vulnerable people it helps here in the UK and in Africa.  Spurred on by the nation’s generosity they hope to have a record-breaking and fun-fuelled night!”

On the support from call centres, Helen Puddefoot, Comic Relief’s Head of Campaign Management,  said:
"Autoglass Call Centre is one of a team of UK call centres taking donations and we’d like to say a massive Thank You to all the staff who have given up their precious Friday night. We also want to thank BT which is again providing the infrastructure behind the record-breaking telephony system.” 

The Autoglass call centre, which is open 24/7 will also continue to take customer calls throughout the event. Customers who require assistance with their vehicle glass should call the usual number: 0800 36 36 36.  Whilst those wishing to donate to Comic Relief should call the number which is published on the BBC One show on the night.
