Best of Belron® UK winner announced

Autoglass technician Paul Howe has beaten applicants from across the country to be recognised as the best in the UK at a prestigious industry event.

Paul Howe, 29, from Aylesbury has won the top award at the Best of Belron® event in Northampton. The event brings together the top technicians from across the country and competition was tough for the esteemed title.  The seventh annual contest was held at the Cywell Aerodrome in Northampton.

Best of Belron® was launched globally in 2000 to demonstrate the considerable skills of technicians across the world, while also recognising the exceptionaly high levels of customer service within the windscreen and glass replacement industry.

Paul will now go on to battle against winners from 29 other countries in the International grand final in June, which is to be held in Paris where he will compete to receive the world title and scoop the ultimate prize of one year’s salary.

Commenting on his win and the forthcoming world title event in Paris, Paul said: “I have worked as an Autoglass technician for 10 years and I am extremely proud to be representing the UK at the world title event.

“I am really excited about the opportunity to travel to Paris and once I have worked on the Audi A4 (car that will be used at world finals) I will have an increased overall confidence."

Nigel Doggett, managing director of Autoglass, comments: “This competition was created to showcase the excellent skills, detailed training and work of our technicians. The best fitter from each region was tested on all aspects of glass repair and replacement, as well as technical questionnaires and an in-depth assessment on customer service.

“Competition this year has been fierce; as the event gains notoriety within the industry we have had an influx of applications from some of the best technicians across the country.  Paul was chosen because of his history of excellent conduct and consistent performance; the panel felt he is a technician who prides himself on his professional manner at all times.  We wish him the very best of luck in the grand final in Paris.”

The Best of Belron® grand final will take place in Paris, at the La Grande Halle de la Villette in Porte de Pantin between June 7th and 10th 2010.
